Terms of commission

Please read carefully the following terms and conditions. By sending a payment for your commission, you are indicating that you have read the terms, understood them and agree to abide by them. These terms are relevant to noncommercial projects only and are subject to revising and editing without notice.

Workflow and payment

  • 1.
First we will agree on the exact assignment, the format and the technique used. For the best results, it is important to get a proper description of your idea. I prefer concise descriptions with visual references. Then I will specify the final price and issue an invoice.
  • 2.
If you choose a commission for more than $30, I firstly draw a sketch based on your description and send it to you in an e-mail as soon as I can. You may comment on the sketch and if need be I will make adjustments according to your specifications. There will be, however, only two revisions, so please think twice about all adjustments in the beginning. In the later stages of creation, making revisions is not technically possible.
  • 3.
After the approval of the sketch I'll wait for your payment and when I have received it, I will start working on finishing the picture. If you are wondering how the work on your commission continues, I can send you a scan of the work in progress. I won't start working on orders for less than $30 until I receive the full amount, and I do not send WIPs of such commissions.
  • 4.
Once the artwork is finished, I will publish it on my website and in various web galleries. Then I will send you the link and we can agree on delivering the picture itself. If the artwork should not be published until a certain date or you do not want me to include your name / nickname, please let me know right away when arranging the assignment.
  • At any time during our collaboration you can contact me with questions about your commission. I will do my best to respond quickly and I ask you to do the same when answering questions from me. If some unexpected complications or delays appear, I will inform you as soon as possible.

    Payment options and refunds

I accept all payments (except the payments from Czech Republic and Slovakia) on my Paypal. It's not a problem if you do not have a Paypal account yourself, you can use your credit or debit card instead. If for some reason you can not pay the entire amount at once, we can arrange partial payments, but only if the amount is higher than $100.

    • If I didn't begin to work on your commission, yet I can return a full refund minus Paypal fees.
    • If I already started to draw, I can not refund the full amount. The amount of money returned will be based on how much work has already been spent on the picture.
    • If a commission is already more than half done, I can not return any money and the picture will be finished in any case. Unfortunately, I do not refund money even if you were dissatisfied with the result.
    • If I finish your picture and you stop communicating with me, or if mailed out artwork gets returned and we do not solve this problem within three months, I have a right to keep the picture or sell it.
    • Shipping and handling rates

If I work with traditional techniques, you can get the original artwork. If you're not from the Czech Republic, I can send it to your address. I am mailing out all the shipments by registered mail (I can send you a tracking number) in envelopes strengthened against wrinkling. Only formats larger than 11.7 x 16.5" are sent in solid tubes.

I am not responsible for loss of your shipment. If you do not want to risk destroying the artwork while mailing it out, or if you do not need the original, I will send you a scan of the picture in a lossless format in print resolution. Using this file, you can order professional print in some printing office. Likewise, when I create your picture digitally, you'll get your commission painted in high resolution in digital format. You decide whether to keep the image as is, or to get it printed in some local printing office.

For a small additional fee I can professsionally print traditional or digital pictures myself up to 11.7 x 16.5" and send it signed to your address.

      Rights to use the picture

      • You, as the customer, retain all rights to the original character which features in the artwork. You may crop the finished picture, add text or otherwise edit it and publish on the Internet. I'll be glad if you give me credit.
      • You do not have the rights to reproduce my artwork, sell it or make any profit.
      • I reserve all rights to the created artwork, including the right to produce and sell prints or other products with this motif. It is possible to cancel this right during arrangement of the assignment, but it could include an increase in the final price.
      • I have the right to physically showcase the picture in its original form or as print and use it for my personal presentation. Electronic forms of artwork can be posted on my personal website and various web galleries, forums, etc.
